Fruity festival sweetens Suoi Tien Park
The fourth annual Southern Fruit Festival kicked off yesterday at Suoi Tien Tourist Park in HCM City’s District 9.
The festival includes fruit sculptures, fruit eating contests, fruit games, as well as seminars on fruit.
The event, which lasts until June 19, will also host the Hundred-Fruit Fairy Four Seasons Parade, in which artists will perform in fruity costumes.
The festival’s Fruit Market will be home to some 50 fruits from regions around the country, including durians, mangos, longans, pomelos, litchis, plums and many others. The fruit market will last until September 2.
Da Lat prepares for flower festival
The resort city of Da Lat is preparing for its second flower festival, scheduled for December, in what is recognised as the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) most beautiful season.
This year’s event, titled Da Lat Flower, I Love You, will put a fresh new face on the city as residents decorate the streets with flowers.
During the festival, tourists will have the chance to participate in a flower caravan and flower exhibitions that will also showcase the mountainous city’s speciality products such as teas and wines.
The festival will also include a beauty contest for ethnic minority women called Miss Ethnic Viet Nam and a collective wedding ceremony in which 114 couples will be hosted at Sofitel Palace Hotel.
More tourists cruise into Viet Nam
Saigontourist Travel Service Co received 51,769 international cruise tourists over the past five months, a threefold increase over the same period last year.
The HCM City-based company said it would receive 8,050 tourists on the luxurious liners Costa Allegra, Super Star Virgo and Super Star Aquarius between May 28 and June 19.
The Italian Costa Allegra will begin docking in Viet Nam every 10 days this November.
Border town hosts boat races
Victoria Chau Doc Hotel will run its 3rd Dragon Boat Races next Wednesday to promote Chau Doc Town in Southern An Giang Province as a tourist destination.
The event, to be located not far from the Cambodian border, will be held in collaboration with the Chau Doc Sports Centre.
The races are held to celebrate the Chau Doc Regional Lady Festival, to take place on the river from the Chau Doc Basa Fish Park to Victoria Chau Doc Hotel.
Road show in Thailand launched
The Tourism Department of central Quang Nam Province will launch a road show in Thailand from June 1 to 8, including tourism activities, performances and festivals.
The event aims to introduce the province’s tourism programme Quang Nam Festival – a Heritage Itinerary, set for June 26-30.
For the occasion, tourism authorities from Quang Nam, Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue have also joined hands to introduce tourism products in Viet Nam’s central region to tourists from Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. — VNS
