Bookworm Festival – Meet George Burchet Wed 16 May 2012, 7.30 pm Bookworm 44 Chu Long, H Nội You are invited to a discussion “From Hanoi to Hanoi, the long journey home” with George Burchet . George, an internationally exhibited artist, again lives in Hanoi and is working on a book, exhibition and film project about Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos documenting those first two years free of French colonial rule. George Burchet was born in Hanoi in 1955 and lived here until 1957…the first two years after France was defeated at Dien Bien Phu. His father was famous Australian Journalist Wilfred Burchett and his mother was Bulgarian journalist and art historian, Vessa Ossikovoska. In 1957 the family moved to Moscow. We all know the tragedies that befell these three countries in the years that followed.
