THE family of tragic tot Alfie Evans have hit out at health chiefs for spending £145,000 “to kill” the tot. Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust revealed their legal fees related to the case when Alfie’s parents battled to stop doctors switching off his life support machine. Supporters of the family hit out at the trust’s expenditure – and claimed the hosptial’s bosses were “corrupt”. Alfie’s aunt Sarah Evans took to Facebook to share a response to a Freedom of Information request, accusing the trust of spending “over £145,000 to kill my nephew”. The infant was in a coma for the last 16 months of his life after being born with a rare degenerative condition. After months of conflict between Alfie’s parents, doctors and the courts, Alfie’s life support machine was finally switched off in April. Lawyers argued the case before courts in London, Liverpool and Manchester as Alfie’s parents try to overturn the ruling to withdraw treatment.
