PM leaves for ASEAN summit in Singapore The Saigon Times Daily Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) is welcomed by a Singaporean official at Changgi Airport of Singapore – PHOTO: VNA HCMC – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Singapore today, November 13, to attend the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related high-level meetings, reported the Government news website. At the invitation of the host country’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the Vietnamese Government leader made the trip accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung and Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, along with other senior officials. The 33rd ASEAN Summit is the second summit in 2018 under the ASEAN Chairmanship of Singapore. Later that day, PM Phuc joined other ASEAN leaders at the opening ceremony and plenary session of the summit. They are expected to discuss measures to promote cooperation in economic matters, trade and infrastructure under the theme of the summit: “Building a resilient and innovative ASEAN.” The event’s focus is on strengthening connectivity to cope with the changes in the world economy and to address other global challenges.
