Billy Kobin Louisville Courier Journal Published 11:10 AM EDT Mar 15, 2019 After shootings at two mosques in New Zealand on Friday claimed the lives of at least 49 people, members of the Muslim community in Louisville said they are keeping alert today at their mosques. “Yeah, it’s tense right now,” said Hamza Foy, a committee member at Guiding Light Islamic Center on Six Mile Lane in Louisville. “I know that some (mosques) might reach out to police or the sheriff’s office (Friday). Some of us are going to stand outside, keep an eye on things today during the prayer service.” Authorities in New Zealand said three suspects had been detained in connection with the shootings at two mosques in the city of Christchurch, which took place in the afternoon locally.
