The backup catcher Nido was the latest to send the injury-riddled Mets to a walk-off victory, drilling a solo homer to right-center field to send them to a 5-4, 13-inning victory Saturday over the Tigers and make a winner out of Hector Santiago. Nido’s third career homer, off reliever Buck Farmer, was by far the biggest hit of his short Mets career, sending them to their fifth win in six games with the finale of the homestand coming up Sunday. It was also the Mets’ fourth win in their final at-bat in their past five games. Nido entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 11th and stayed in the game.
