Five passengers entering Ho Chi Minh City after flying with COVID-19 patient located

A Vietnamese national has been placed in quarantine while four foreigners have boarded flights to Thailand and Australia after entering Ho Chi Minh City on the same plane as a Japanese national who then tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Authorities previously searched for five passengers on Vietnam Airlines flight VN814 from Siem Reap, Cambodia that landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City at 10:03 pm on Tuesday. On the same flight was a Japanese passenger who later tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Japan. The five passengers, namely one Vietnamese, three French citizens, and one Australian, entered the southern metropolis on the same day without being placed in quarantine. A search was launched for these passengers after it was learned that the Japanese passenger was infected with COVID-19. As of Thursday morning, the city’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention said it has located all five passengers. The three French nationals already boarded a flight to Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday while the Australian flew to his home country the same day, according to immigration officials.
