Since his axing from the limited-overs side in 2019, the swashbuckling England opener has kept away from social media and kept his expectations of an England return in check. Though Eoin Morgan had said the door wasn’t completely shut on Hales when he was axed for failing a second drug test, as recently as May 2020, the England limited-overs captain talked up the need for Hales to win back the trust of the squad of the side.
