Ha Noi cements ties with Central Highlands provinces Buon Me Thuot City, August 8 (VNA) - Ha Noi will facilitate the promotion and sale of products made by the Central Highlands provinces on its market, the city's leaders promised their provincial counterparts. Ha Noi leaders are now in the region for the Days of Ha Noi Culture in the Central Highlands which was launched in Dac Lac on Thursday night and is expected to last until August 14. The Central Highlands include Dac Lac, Kon Tum, Gia Lai and Lam Dong provinces. Ha Noi authorities are also committed to helping the provinces develop their economic zones alongside the border with Laos and cooperating with them in building eco-tourism and cultural tourism resorts. National Assembly delegation visits Belgium
A high-level delegation from the National Assembly, led by NA Vice Chairman Truong Quang Duoc, made a working visit to Belgium from Sept. 25-28, the second leg of its current European tour. Sa Pa opens centenary festival
October 4th 2003- In the evening, Lao Cai province celebrated a ceremonial festival for remarking the centenary birthday of Sapa. The Secretary of Central Communist Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, people and ethnics in Lao Cai province and foreign visitors took part in this festival. Located in the Hoang Lien Mountain Range, Sa Pa is known for its cool climate, scenic landscape and colourful Sunday market where ethnic people from Sa Pa's surroundings converge, traveling often on foot or by horses for the weekly social meeting. Sa Pa once was a meeting-place for young Mong, Dao, Tay and Giay people who headed to town to play music, meet potential lovers and renew ties with old ones. Ha Noi’s delegates join celebration of Beijing’s founding anniversary
Permanent Deputy Chairman Nguyen Quoc Trieu of the Ha Noi People's Committee is in Beijing for the city's 850th founding anniversary and the opening of the sixth international tourism week. “Ha Noi cultural days in Dien Bien” opened
CPV: To welcome 50th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, "Ha Noi cultural days in Dien Bien" began at 8p.m on March 15th in Dien Bien city. France to provide 400,000 EUR to Hue Festival 2004
France will provide 400,000 EUR to the Hue Festival 2004, the organising board announced on Monday. The money will be used to sponsor performances by six French artistic troupes and an exhibition of animated books and art photos, which will be jointly organised by the French National School of Photography in Arles and the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts and Culture School. Hue Festival 2004 will be held seven or nine days after May 7 under the theme "Cultural heritage in integration and development" and "ASEAN cultural days". Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem has assigned several agencies to make preparations for the Dan Nam Giao Festival which will be held during the Hue Festival. An Hai village festival
An Hai which used to be a part of An Phuc, Dien Phuoc, Quang Nam Da Nang city now belongs to An Hai Tay, Son Tra district, Danang city. The west area of Danang city was chosen by Nguyen Dynasty to build the bulwark called An Hai. Together with Dien Hai bulwark in the west, it protected Danang harbor. After many attacks of the French and Spanish allied troops in the early morning of the 1st September 1958 into Danang city, Dien Hai and An Hai bulwark was terribly damaged. Although here is no remain of An Hai bulwark, the history of the magnanimous resistance is still in the heart of Danang citizens. In 2000, An Hai village festival is held again to remind people of the magnanimous past. An Hai village festival is celebrated on the "thu te" day, on the 10th August (lunar Calendar). The Danang People's Committee has just approved and directed the preparations for the Danang Maritime Tourist Cultural Festival 2004 on 31 July and 01 August. “A New Day” Exhibition opens
Danang young painters held an exhibition entitled "A New Day" starting on 4 December 2003 at the Danang Centre for Cultural Affairs and Information. This is one of the activities co-organized by the Danang Association of Literature and Arts and the Danang Association of Fine Arts to celebrate the Danang recognition as a Grade One City, and the anniversary of the Vietnamese Fine Arts Day on 10 December and in support of the fund "For the poor". Vice chairman of the Danang PC Nguyen Hoang Long had talks with Mrs. Jackie Menzies, Chief of the Asian Art Exhibition Center of New South Wales Museum on Cham Museum objects' exhibition in Australia. This is a large scale exhibition with 22 objects to be exhibited according to the major of highlighting Vietnam's Cham Culture in Australia. Danang’s Cham Museum to take part in exhibititon in Paris
On February 28, Mr. Pierre André Wiltezer, Minister for Francophone and Cooperation, France visited Danang to prepare for the Cham arts exhibition to be help in autumn 2005 in Paris. The French Minister was accompanied by sixteen senators and officials of the French Foreign Ministry. The delegation studied the exhibit operation, display and management at the Danang's Champ Museum, the partner of the France's Guimet Asian Arts Museum in organising the exhibition. This was at the proposal of French President Jacque Chirac, who is expected to attend the fifth ASEM meeting to be held in Vietnam in October, said Minister Pierre André Wiltezer. Danang photographer wins only gold medal at French art contest
The photograph "Protect" by Photographer Than Nguyen, a member of the Danang Branch of the Vietnamese Photographers Association won the only gold medal at the 17th international photo contest in France. It surpassed 2,221 works of 626 competitors from 46 nations and regions worldwide. The contest was sponsored by the Federation for International Art Photography (FIAP) and the Photography Society of America (PSA). More than 100 colour and black and white photographs were selected for exhibition. Among them were a gold medal winner, two silver, three bronze and four honorary certificates. Celebrating Red Cross International Day May 8
The 141th anniversary of the International Red Cross Day was celebrated by the Danang Red Cross Association on May 8. On this occasion, an action month for the poor, handicapped people and agent orange victims in the city was launched. This helped to call on associations, unions and social organisations at all levels to join in humanitarian activities and share the burden of their unfortunate lives. At the ceremony, the Municipal Red Cross Association set the target for this action month, including 40 humanitarian houses for the poor, 120 wheelchairs for disabled children and 150 scholarships for poor and oustanding students. At the ceremony, four organizations donated VND120mil to the fund. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, vice-chairman of the Danang PC had talks with Mr. Edmund Capon, Director of the Australian Art Gallery of New South Wales on final arrangements to take 22 sculptures of the Danang Cham Museum to Australia for exhibition. Most of the objects will be transported by plane but the heavy and bulky ones will go by sea. This is the largest overseas exhibition of the Danang Museum so far. Preparations under way for Danang 2004 Marine Culture and Tourism Festival
The Danang 2004 Marine Culture and Tourism Festival will be the largest tourism festival ever held in Danang. Diverse and exciting cultural and tourist activities will be organised including the program "Meeting at Ba Na Resort" from 24 to 25 July and the Danang Marine Culture and Tourism Festival from 31 July to 1 August. Boat racing on the Han River Also, there will be a fish worshipping ceremony, an exhibition "Danang - Past and Present", a calligraphy display, a lantern festival, boat racing, flower boat performances, night market, culinary arts display, a fancy-dress parade and a music performance.
