Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) hosted a press briefing on renewing and improving the quality of broadcasts on the News and Current Affairs channel (VOV1) in Hanoi on April 27. It will feature 25 new bulletins about key domestic and international issues, the situation in border and island areas, price and market development. From May 1, the upgraded VOV1 channel will be officially re-launched to serve listeners through the country. The channel provides listeners at home and abroad with the latest news about politics, diplomatic affairs, economics, and arts and literature. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - 19:24:43 A government resolution to achieve fast and sustainable poverty reduction in 62 poor districts (Resolution 30a) has been in effect for 3 years. Today’s Current Affairs looks at how the resolution works. Resolution 30a, an important government decision issued in December 2008, was meant to help 62 districts escape poverty that afflicts half their population. The resolution has involved the entire political hierarchy, business community and the public. Since 2008, hundreds of millions of USD, including more than 450 million USD from the state budget has been mobilized to boost the poorest areas of Vietnam. As a result, the number of poor households has fallen 5% a year and the average per capita income has increased 150% and 97% of makeshift houses in those areas have been replaced. Whether we are facing a long drawn out election process or a recession, some things never change. As we watch the news events of current affairs unfold we often get caught up in the moment and yet something inside us tells us, "oh, we have been through this before!" And so goes the saying; "Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it!"Thus, the sound and fury of current affairs and news events once again repeats in an endless cycle. However, this deadline is likely to be missed as involved parties want to reach a deal that benefit them most. Photo:AFP The Deputy-ministerial level negotiation between Iran and the P5+1 group which comprises of the UK, China, France, Russia, the US and Germany has ended without progress due to pending differences. The involved parties had different views on the roadmap of lifting the West sanctions against Iran and the inspection of Iran’s nuclear sites. Iran has always denied accusations that the country is developing nuclear bombs and insisted that its nuclear programs are for peaceful purposes.
