Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu expressed his admire to the donors and his hope that blood donation will reach further in the community, thus helping ease the shortage of the life-ensuring liquid, especially at major hospitals. The current drive was launched on December 26 in Hanoi, expected to collect about 50,000 blood units during the 2019 Chu Nhat Do (Red Sunday). According to statistics of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, 1.3 million people nationwide received regular social allowances and 11.8 million others were entitled to health insurance in the year. More than 59,500 national national contributors and their family members received education and training support. Nearly 105,000 disadvantaged children assisted

Labour export sets new record in 2018 (Photo: VGP)According to the department under the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), in 2018, the Japanese labour market, for the first time, passed the Taiwanese (China) labour market to become Vietnam’s largest labour export market (over 67,000), followed by Taiwan (65,000), the Republic of Korea (6,000), and Saudi Arabia, Romania, Malaysia, Kuwait and others. Report by the Vietnam Association of Manpower Supply (VAMAS) shows that in 2018, only 6 of 28 labour export markets received 1,000 or more Vietnamese labourers per year, including China’s Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Romania and Saudi Arabia, with over 90% of Vietnamese labour going to the Japanese and Taiwanese labour markets.
