SpaceX moves to beam Starlink internet into trucks, boats, and aircraft
SpaceX is seeking regulatory approval to connect its rapidly growing network of internet-beaming Starlink satellites to cars, trucks, shipping boats, and aircraft. The request, filed last Friday with the Federal Communications Commission, marks SpaceX’s biggest step yet toward connecting Starlink to the automotive sector, a potentially lucrative line of business that would expand the company’s current stationary offerings from rural homes. The March 5th FCC filing asked for “a blanket license authorizing operation” of Starlink terminals on so-called Earth Stations in Motion — an umbrella term for cars, trucks, maritime vessels, and aircraft. “No longer are users willing to forego connectivity while on the move, whether driving a truck across the country, moving a freighter from Europe to a U.S. port, or while on a domestic or international flight,” the filing read. Entitled Global Guytalk , the exhibition has been curated by the Swedish Institute to address the prevailing masculinity role and some of the obstacles for men speaking with other men about their feelings. The Swedish gender equality initiative “guy dinner” was established in 2016 and has since enjoyed great success. In cooperation with the Swedish Institute and the non-profit foundation Make Equal, the Embassy of Sweden in Hà Nội now introduces Global Guytalk in Việt Nam, aiming to start conversations between men that can influence attitudes and increase gender equality. Vietnamese banks concerned as mandate forces withholding of tax money from client accounts
In a bid to collect due tax from foreign service providers, Vietnamese authorities are requiring banks and payment intermediary service companies to withhold and pay tax from the accounts of e-commerce foreign contractors who do not register as a taxpayer in Vietnam, raising concerns over overload and risky transactions at local lenders. The direction was set forth in a draft circular to guide the implementation of Decree 126, which provides guidance for the application of the Law on Tax Administration. According to the draft circular, foreign service providers, including Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Apple, must register as taxpaying entities, as well as filing and paying tax money for income derived from Vietnam. When the foreign companies fail to fulfill their tax liability, banks would be allowed to pay on their behalf by deducting the due payments on the service providers’ accounts.
