Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — National carrier Vietnam Airlines early this week opened a new route between Nha Trang and Seoul with two flights, numbered VN440 and VN441. The flights will connect Cam Ranh Airport in the southern province of Khánh Hòa and Incheon Airport in Seoul. Lưu Anh Tuấn, head of the representative branch of Vietnam Airlines in South Korea, said Vietnam Airlines started flights to South Korea in 1993 between Seoul and HCM City. After more than 20 years, together with the rapid development of bilateral ties, Vietnam Airlines has continued to expand its network in the South Korean market to meet the increasing demand of people from the two sides. Nha Trang is the fourth city in Việt Nam to have a direct Vietnam Airlines flight to Seoul, after Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng, bringing the total number of flights to 53. Vietnam Airlines, AFI sign Boeing maintenance contract
Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Air France Industries KLM Engineering and Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) signed a long-term flight hour support contract for maintenance of Boeing 787-9 in Paris on Monday. The contract, worth more than US$500 million, was signed in the presence of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng and French President Francois de Rugy. The contract is part of the framework to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and France. Under the contract, AFI KLM E&M will oversee the maintenance of 20 GEnx engines, including 16 engines for eight operating planes and four others for reserve, for 12 years. The firm will also provide access to spare engines for Vietnam Airlines to guarantee seamless continuity in its operations. Domestic Vietnam Airlines flight diverted to Laos due to bad weather
Hanoi (VNA) â A Vietnam Airlines flight en route from Da Nang to Hanoi had to divert to Laos on June 7 after it could not make a landing at Hanoiâs Noi Bai International Airport due to bad weather. The Airbus A330 aircraft, coded VN168, with 205 passengers onboard took off from Da Nang International Airport at 16:00. Two hours later, the crew announced, due to bad weather conditions, the plane had to divert to Laos where it landed safely at Vientiane International Airport at 18:15, according to a passenger. The crew detected a technical problem at around 20:00 with passengers still onboard. Food and water were served while passengers were reassured by flight attendants, as many of them felt the temperature increasing in the cabin. They were allowed to disembark at 21:30 in order for ground crew to inspect the plane. The airlines said the figure, an increase of 10 per cent compared with the same period last year, was cause for celebration, as the airlines had to operate in overloaded infrastructure, especially at Tan San Nhat International Airport. VNA reported that its carriage of passenger was up 20 per cent during the period, a slight drop compared with last year’s recorded growth of 34 per cent. Vietnam Airlines set to finish Hanoi-Dong Hoi route transfer to Vasco Le Anh HCMC – Vietnam Airlines said on March 20 it would complete the transfer of the Hanoi-Dong Hoi route to the Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), a subsidiary of the national flag carrier, on March 26. On this short-haul route Vasco will take over three more flights a week after Vietnam Airlines handed over four flights. VASCO will operate seven flights a week on the Hanoi-Dong Hoi using ATR-72 turbo-prop airplanes with 68 seats. Flights depart from Hanoi at 7:45 a.m. and from Dong Hoi, Quang Binh Province at 9:45 a.m. The flying time is one hour and 25 minutes.
