Danang Hi-Tech Park needs VND1.3 trillion Danang City is promoting investments into housing, training and service facilities in Danang Hi-Tech Park (DHTP) worth a combined VND1.268 trillion, according to the Danang Investment Promotion Agency. Director of the agency Le Canh Duong on March 26 said local and foreign firms could choose to invest through public-private partnerships (PPP), which include build-operate-transfer (BOT). In addition to seeking capital for these facilities, DHTP also wants to attract investors to a research and development center to assist operations of enterprises there. Such projects can be financed by official development assistance (ODA) capital, according to Doan Ngoc Hung Anh, deputy head of the DHTP management board. Gold prices hit VND47.85 mil per tael SJC gold in HCM City on October 4 reached VND47.55-47.85 million per tael, up VND50,000 from the previous trading session. In the meantime, SJC gold in Hanoi rose by VND450,000 per tael to VND47.55-47.87 million per tael, a record high ever seen in a year. On the global market, Kitco gold jumped to US$1.778.8 per ounce, up US$5 per ounce compared to the previous trading session while Comex gold for December delivery showed an increase of US$4.2 to US$1.779.8 per ounce. Timber goods' market on target The timber products market needs to promote local business and develop the export market this year to deal with the greater difficulties, said the HCM City Fine Art and Wood Processing Association. The association reported in 2011 that the wood processing industry gained its target of US$3.9 billion, an increase of $500 million from the previous year. But, in fact, wood processors earned a small profit from exports due to the European economic downturn. Europe is a major export market for Vietnamese wood, as well as an area of low competition, the association said. It reported that in 2011, 55 per cent of the total domestic wood producers suffered losses and produced moderately. Thirty per cent of them broke even while 15 per cent saw little profit.
