One scene in "Me Thao Thoi Vang Bong" The Vietnamese film "Me Thao Thoi Vang Bong" (Glorious Time in Me Thao Hamlet) will be shown at the "New Nasubi Gallery" Exhibition to be organised by Australia's Queensland Art Museum in December 2006. "Me Thao Thoi Vang Bong", directed by Nguyen Viet Linh, pays homage to the thousand-year-old "ca tru" folk music by exploring the different lives of people who are influenced by this folk art. Set in the idyllic countryside of northern Viet Nam, the film is full of such gorgeous images as the village wells, ponds of floating water-fern and flat baskets full of shining yellow silkworms. Film on “Made in Vietnam Plane” to be shown in Australia
Tran Quoc Hai and his plane The work on the making of a "Made in Vietnam Plane", filmed by American Vietnamese filmmaker Le Quang Dinh, was selected to be one of the three major exhibits at an exhibition in Australia, together with ones from Australia and China. The fifth Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT5) will be held from December 2, 2006 to May 27, 2007 in Queensland, Australia by the Queensland Art Gallery. On display will be around 270 works by 37 artists and filmmakers. Tran Quoc Hai, one of the two plane producers and also main actor in Le Quang Dinh's film said that he was planning to fly to Australia on Nov. 26 or Nov. 27 to attend the APT5. Pham Luc exhibits paintings in Australia
Pham Luc, a Vietnamese painter, is showcasing his collection of 51 paintings, made between 1966 to 2008 in different forms, such as oil and water-colour, at the William Mora Exhibition Hall in Melbourne, Australia. There are also paintings drawn on burlap bags for rice during the war against the Americans. The paintings depict the beauty of, and his love of, Vietnam, as well as his views of the Vietnam War. According to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia, Nguyen Thanh Tan, this is the first time Australia has held a private painting exhibition of a Vietnamese painter. Born in 1943 in Hue, Pham Luc graduated from Hanoi Fine Arts University in 1977. He was a former major in the Vietnamese People’s Army. At the age of six, Jacquelyn Ngo’s paintings amaze art professors by their colours and energy. Jacquelyn Ngo on the Sydney Morning Herald.
