Singapore General Hospital unveils upgraded Burn Centre with new operating theatres, ICU beds
SINGAPORE: The Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Burn Centre reopened on Thursday (Aug 15) after undergoing a S$6million, 15-month upgrade. The centre now has enhanced capabilities to handle complex burn scenarios, including a new modular design that allows either side of the facility to be closed off during a mass burns incident to reduce the risk of cross-contamination between existing and new patients. "The whole basis of this renovation was to decrease the rate of cross-contamination between patients because one of the main problems when dealing with burns patients is that they are often infected with very drug-resistant bacteria,” said Associate Professor Ong Yee Siang, head and senior consultant of the department of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at SGH. Besides a new layout design, the expanded facility now has a total of four Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, 10 High-Dependency rooms and two operating theatres. The High-Dependency and isolation rooms can … [Read more...] about Singapore General Hospital unveils upgraded Burn Centre with new operating theatres, ICU beds

Ali Ay, 28, allegedly threw the scalding hot water over Rukiye Ay, 23, because he had "not been allowed to lie in." The shocking incident took place earlier this month in Konya, Turkey. Speaking on the horrific attack from hospital, Rukiye said that she wanted the breakfast treat as a "pleasant surprise." She said: "I prepared it all and then went to tell my husband he had breakfast in bed. "He was angry and demanded to know why I woke him up, and told me not to bother him, so I started having breakfast with my daughter. "He came in still in a bad mood and told me he was going to divorce me and gain custody of our daughter no matter what I did. "He then poured boiling water down my neck. He was going to throw it … [Read more...] about Monster husband ‘poured boiling water over his wife after she woke him up with breakfast in bed’
