Campaign promotes Vietnamâs tourism potential in China
Liaoning (VNA) â A programme to promote Vietnamâs tourism in China took place in the countryâs Liaoning province â its last stop, drawing hundreds of travel and media agencies on November 23. The event was organised by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. VNAT Deputy Director General Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong highlighted China as one of the key markets of Vietnamâs tourism. In the first ten months this year, 2.2 million Chinese tourists came to Vietnam, up 55 percent from the same period last year. The number is expected to reach between 2.5 and 2.6 million this year, Huong said, stressing that it is a modest figure compared to more than 100 million Chinese travelling abroad each year. This year, the VNAT has held a series of tourism promotion events in China, mostly in Guilin city, Guangdong province; Changchun city in Jilin province; and Dalian in Liaoning province, according to Huong. Vietnam to show off its cultural wealth in China
Vietnam will attend the exhibition for world intangible cultural heritage in China on May 27-June 3. According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam will bring five cultural "specialities" recognised by UNESCO: nha nhac (Hue royal music), khong gian van hoa cong chieng Tay Nguyen (the cultural space of Gong), ca tru (ceremonial songs), quan ho (Love duets) and Hoi Giong (Saint Giong Festival) to the event. The exhibition will be an opportunity for Vietnam to highlight its culture on an international stage. Hue royal music was recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage on November 7, 2003. RoK promotes MICE tourism in Vietnam
The Republic of Korea (RoK) will hold a seminar on MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition) tourism in Hanoi on October 7 with the participation of around 180 Vietnamese and Korean delegates. Vietnam is the second destination, after Shanghai, China, that the RoK has introduced such kind of tourism which is developing with high economic efficiency in the country. According to the Korean National Tourism Administration (KNTA), Vietnam has a high economic growth rate and political stability by comparison with other countries in Southeast Asia. People are open to receive international culture. Vietnam Days in China will be held from August 29 to September 3 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The programme aims to promote the national image and to strengthen comprehensive political, diplomatic, cultural and economic ties between Vietnam and China. It will also provide a good opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to set up investment and co-operative ties with big groups from China and other Asian nations. The event will include a Vietnam-China economic forum, a trade and investment forum, a direct meeting between Vietnamese and Chinese businesses and a photographic exhibition called "Vietnam - its land and people".
