The Queen is reportedly unable to visit Prince Philip in hospital despite the Duke entering his 17th night in hospital. The Duke of Edinburgh was transferred from King Edward VII's Hospital in Marylebone to St Bartholomew's Hospital in the City of London on Monday, where he is receiving ongoing treatment for a pre-existing heart condition. Philip, 99, was said to be "comfortable" after his arrival - but coronavirus restrictions have prevented him and the Queen from seeing one another in over two weeks. Although son and heir Prince Charles visited Philip at the King Edward VII Hospital, visitors are only allowed into clinical areas of St Bartholomew's for very limited reasons, such as seeing a patient who is at the end of their life. Philip and the Queen have spent the last 11 months shielding at Windsor Castle with a support bubble of staff and royal aides. Prince Philip's current hospital admission marks his longest ever, with the Palace saying he is expected to remain at St … [Read more...] about Queen ‘unable to visit Prince Philip’ in new hospital due to Covid restrictions

COVID-19: ‘Unbreakable link between cases, hospitalisations and deaths is now breaking’ – health sec
The "unbreakable link" between COVID-19 cases, hospitalisations, and deaths is being broken by the vaccination programme, the health secretary has said. Cases have fallen by 34% in the past seven days and the 29% fall in hospital admissions over the same period is the fastest decrease at any point in the pandemic, the latest government data shows. Deaths have also fallen by 41% in the last week. Matt Hancock said: "What this all shows is that the link from cases to hospitalisations then to deaths that had been unbreakable before the vaccine, that link is now breaking." Mr Hancock also said more than 21.3 million people - two-fifths of the UK adult population - have received their first dose of the vaccine and just over one million people - around 2% of UK adults - have received both doses. The seven-day rolling average of daily second doses stood at 4,253 on 15 February, but had jumped to 27,356 by 28 February. SCRABBLE bosses have sparked a row by looking to ban words including “farting” and “boobies”. The game’s makers want to outlaw “offensive” or “disparaging” terms. Scrabble associations across the world, including the UK, are now compiling a list of 400 words to be barred in competitions. It is thought the list will include “goolies', “arse”, “fatso”, “boffing” and “wrinklies”. But the move has angered players, including 2014 world champion and twice-British champ Craig Beevers, 39, who said: “The woke brigade is ruining our game.” Craig, of Stockton-on-Tees, Co Durham, added: “I feel this will be the final nail in the coffin for a lot of competitive players. “The biggest problem with wokeness is that it’s not at all popular.” Games giant Mattel made its changes to reflect modern attitudes. Vice-president Ray Adler said: “In Scrabble — as in life — the words we choose matter. Health Ministry to improve access to care for mental health patients
SINGAPORE: One area which the Health Ministry will be focusing on over the next few years is in the area of developing a new community-based mental health plan to complement the hospital-based services. Speaking in Parliament, Minister of State for Health, Dr Amy Khor said the government's role is to build a network of care and support services that are integrated with primary care and long-term care services. So to improve access to care for mental health patients, the ministry will site specialist-led multi-disciplinary teams in the community, starting with the north and central regions this year. They are called the Assessment and Shared Care Teams (ASCAT) and they will be integrated with the primary care services, so that a person with a mental condition can visit a clinic near him to receive the care he needs, instead of having to see the psychiatrist in the hospital. For a start, MOH will set up six ASCAT teams by 2016 to manage up to 9,500 patients at any point in … [Read more...] about Health Ministry to improve access to care for mental health patients
