COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An experienced campaigner for former President Donald Trump and top Ohio Republican took the helm of the state party Friday, pledging to strengthen the party’s performance in Democrat-heavy urban counties headed into the 2022 elections. Trump endorsed Bob Paduchik over a far-right challenger to succeed Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken, who resigned to run for U.S. Senate. He called the man who ran his successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns in the state “outstanding in every way.” Trump won Ohio both times by more than 8 percentage points. But Paduchik’s challenger for the party’s top job, former state Rep. John Becker, cast him as an establishment-backing insider saddled with too much baggage. “I’m the regular guy,” Becker told State Central Committee members in a meeting held jointly in person and online. “I don’t have extensive tentacles with family members and multiple organizations and multiple campaigns going back to the beginning of time.” Becker … [Read more...] about Trump-Backed Candidate Bob Paduchik Tapped To Head Ohio Republican Party

Florida Senator Marco Rubio Defends His Vote To Acquit Donald Trump
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – During an interview with CBS Miami, Florida Senator Marco Rubio acknowledged Donald Trump bears “some level of responsibility” for inciting the crowd leading up to the January 6 Capitol riot, but Rubio also argued it was an isolated incident because in the four years since Trump was elected, “the President spoke on almost a daily basis and there weren’t daily riots.” Rubio also said he hasn’t spoken to the former President since November but expects to talk to him soon. Rubio is running for re-election in 2022. Trump visits California, Biden talks climate change as wildfires take campaign focus
LAS VEGAS: President Donald Trump will travel to California on Monday (Sep 14) to be briefed about its devastating wildfires while Democratic rival Joe Biden plans a speech on the matter from Delaware, bringing climate change to the forefront of the presidential campaign. Trump, a Republican who pulled the United States out of the Paris accord on global warming because he found it too costly, has expressed his view that poor forest management is partly to blame for the fires that are raging around the West Coast. Democrats have emphasised that climate change has played a role, and Biden is expected to emphasise that in his remarks. Trump says he has signed new executive order to lower drug prices
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Sunday (Sep 13) he had signed a new executive order aimed at lowering drug prices in the United States by linking them to those of other nations. "My Most Favored Nation order will ensure that our Country gets the same low price Big Pharma gives to other countries. The days of global freeriding at America’s expense are over," Trump said in a Twitter post. The White House on Sunday provided a text of the executive order, which does not appear to be a newly signed document. It was dated Jul 24. The Republican president in July signed an executive order that, among other things, would require Medicare, the government healthcare program for seniors, to tie the prices it pays for drugs to those paid by other countries. Its implementation, however, was delayed as the administration sought to work out a solution with the industry. Three other executive orders were signed in July, which were designed to reduce drug costs for consumers in … [Read more...] about Trump says he has signed new executive order to lower drug prices
Search on for bodies in charred path of wildfires, Trump to visit California
PORTLAND: Search and rescue crews using dogs combed through neighbourhoods left in blackened ruins by massive wildfires burning across three states on Saturday (Sep 12), and US President Donald Trump said he would travel to California to see the devastation first-hand. Flames have destroyed thousands of homes and a half dozen small towns in the latest outbreak of wildfires that have raged across the western United States this summer, scorching a landscape the size of New Jersey and killing at least 26 people since early August. But after four days of brutally hot, windy weather, the weekend brought calmer winds blowing inland from the Pacific Ocean, and cooler, moister conditions that helped crews make headway against blazes that had burned unchecked earlier in the week. At least six people have been killed this week in Oregon, according to the state's wildfire tracking website. Governor Kate Brown has said that dozens of people remained missing across three counties. In … [Read more...] about Search on for bodies in charred path of wildfires, Trump to visit California
