A Harry Potter fan who bought a copy of The Chamber of Secrets for a penny is about to become £2,500 richer - after discovering it's actually an incredibly rare edition. Mark Cavoto, 51, a businessman who owns around 1,500 books from the JK Rowling series, ordered a copy of the 1998 book on Amazon, in a bid to complete his collection. However, after landing through his letter box, he discovered it's actually an incredible sought after edition. "It was signed 'To Alexandra, JK Rowling' and was a 1998 hardback first edition of Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets, the second novel in the series," Mark said. The dad-of-five said he's struck lucky with books before, after spending a penny on a copy of Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone from the second print run, which later sold for £4,600. "It's as rare as the 500 books in the first print run," he said. Mark's first edition of Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets - which was bought on Amazon - is now up for sale at … [Read more...] about Harry Potter fan discovers his 1p JK Rowling book is actually worth £2,500

Genovation Corvette EV entering production with $750k price
That sounds like a lot of money to pay for a Corvette, but then again this is far from being your ordinary C7 Grand Sport. Earlier this year, Maryland-based Genovation Cars improved its own top speed world record for a street-legal electric car by managing to hit an impressive 205.6 mph (330.8 kph) with a 2006 Z06 Corvette from the C6 generation. The company has announced today it has kicked off development of a successor based on the Grand Sport C7 and slated to have a total electric power of more than 660 hp (492 kW) and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm). Unlike its predecessor, the new model will actually be a series production car, albeit availability will be limited since only 75 units are going to be manufactured. Known as the Genovation Extreme Electric, the all-electric Vette will have an almost ideal 50:50 weight distribution and a battery pack with enough energy to last for around 130 miles (209 km) in normal driving conditions.
