The US drama Power may have only come to Netflix last year but it quickly became a hit. The show, which also airs on Starz in the USA, follows nightclub owner James St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) who is entangled in the New York drug scene. Season five had a rollercoaster of a time - with the network having issues - but that hasn't stopped the show getting a season six. Executive producer Gary Lennon is expected to become co-showrunner with Courtney Kemp next season too. "I am thrilled that Gary Lennon's contribution to Power has finally been recognised," Kemp told Deadline . "Gary is a brilliant storyteller, a fantastic director, and one of my favourite people I've ever worked with. I'm excited to collaborate with him on this next season of Power and hope to work with him on multiple projects for years to come." The Power cast have already confirmed they have started filming and began on Tuesday 18th September 2018. So what do we know about season six so far? The Fox News Debacle: TechSavvy Update
Home • violence in games • 131 John Walker Prisoner 10th February 2011 / 12:26AM Here’s an update to my investigating the story Fox News printed in which they astonishingly suggested that Bulletstorm would cause rape. Scott Steinberg, CEO of TechSavvy Global, and all-round industry guru, got in touch with me to show me the answers he submitted to Fox when they approached him for comment. Fox chose to use none of Steinberg’s comments in their final piece, opting instead for the more sensational claims of those with no expertise in the subject (neither of whom have found time to reply to our emails). But seeing these answers also provides further insight into how the mainstream media coverage of gaming stories works. Far from being a reporter ignorant of the subject and twisted by naive contributors, Fox … [Read more...] about The Fox News Debacle: TechSavvy Update
Churnalism: Fox News’ Selective Quoting
Home • 165 John Walker Prisoner 9th February 2011 / 1:21PM While digging into the remarkable story on FoxNews.com, in which it was claimed that games like Bulletstorm cause rape, I got in touch with each of the contributors quoted in the article. Neither of the two doctors have yet got back in touch, but Billy Pidgeon of M2 Research responded with a detailed explanation of what he’d really said to the news outlet. After quoting two experts, neither of whom appear to have any expertise regarding the effects of videogames, both of whom were apparently very quick to condemn the game, they then announce that the game’s unlikely to sell well anyway, citing Pidgeon from M2 Research. Tellingly they refer to him as a “defender”, before quoting him appearing to do anything but. In the original article it appears … [Read more...] about Churnalism: Fox News’ Selective Quoting
