New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday finally approved the relaxation in foreign direct investment (FDI) norms in various sectors including single-brand retail and digital media. Briefing reporters on the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) under automatic route in coal mining and associated infrastructure has been approved. The Union Cabinet also approved 100 per cent FDI under automatic route in coal mining and associated infrastructure. To boost domestic manufacturing, 100 per cent FDI in contract manufacturing under automatic route has been allowed, he said, adding that 26 per cent FDI has been allowed in digital media. Alabama Republican Congressman Mo Brooks dismissed the House Democrat-led impeachment inquiry over President Donald Trump's Ukraine dealings, saying the U.S. should always demand returns when offering foreign aid.Speaking earlier this week on an Athens/Huntsville, Alabama-based WVNN radio program, Brooks said the United States should be asking for something in return from countries who receive food or military aid. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told his Russian counterpart on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is "committed to improving" ties with Moscow, as the two leaders met face to face in Sochi, Russia. "I'm here today because President Trump is committed to improving this relationship," Pompeo told Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. "As I think you said, we have differences. We, each country, will protect its own interests, look out for its own interests of its people," he continued.
