REUTERS: After a fire sale of players over the summer that was fiercely criticised by supporters and club greats, Valencia are braced for yet more departures, according to a report published by the La Liga club with their accounts on Thursday. The accounts show the six-times Spanish champions made a loss of 26 million euros (23.3 million pounds) last season, with the accompanying report clarifying that the club plans to plug the hole with money from player sales before June 30, 2021. Reeling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and their failure to qualify for European football, Valencia bade farewell to seven key players in the close season and did not make a single signing. Among those to leave were captain Dani Parejo, Francis Coquelin plus Spain internationals Rodrigo Moreno and Ferran Torres. Midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia then joined Atletico Madrid at the end of October, further angering coach Javi Gracia, who expected the player to remain and had already offered … [Read more...] about Cash-strapped Valencia reveal plans to plug losses with more player sales

As a matter of fact, development of a hybrid 911 was halted last year, according to 718 and 911 head of development, August Achleitner. The reveal was made in an interview with Car & Driver during the festivities organized on the occasion of the one millionth 911 . He went on to specify the plug-in hybrid model was originally destined to be a part of the upcoming 992 generation and would’ve been very thrifty in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) tests thanks to electrification. Mnuchin pulls plug on some of Fed’s pandemic lending programs
REUTERS: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday asked the central bank to return money earmarked under the March pandemic relief act for emergency lending to businesses, nonprofits and local governments, marking an end on Dec. 31 to most of the crisis-response programs the Federal Reserve has deemed vital to keeping the economy stable. "I am requesting that the Federal Reserve return the unused funds to the Treasury," Mnuchin said in a letter to Fed Chair Jerome Powell. "This will allow Congress to re-appropriate US$455 billion, consisting of US$429 billion in excess Treasury funds for the Federal Reserve facilities and US$26 billion in unused Treasury direct loan funds." The move keeps the core market backstops in place for at least 90 days but ends the corporate bond buying and lending to businesses and local governments that formed the more controversial part of the Fed's response to the pandemic. Those lending programs never got much use, but were an effort to … [Read more...] about Mnuchin pulls plug on some of Fed’s pandemic lending programs
US housing market heats up ahead of election but not all feel the glow
REUTERS: The housing market has been one of the few bright spots since the coronavirus pandemic slammed the U.S. economy, a boom that at a glance would appear to be aiding the financial wellbeing of American homeowners and ought to offer a tailwind to President Donald Trump heading into the homestretch of the election. But as with so much else going on in the recovery, the benefits are far from evenly distributed - and sentiment heading into the election will vary based on how individual voters are faring, offering no clear lift to the incumbent Republican over his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden. "I don't think there's any question that we've seen significant improvement," said Jim Baird, chief investment officer for Plante Moran Financial Advisors. "The question is ‘is it enough?’" The National Association of Realtors this week reported U.S. existing home sales surged in September to levels not seen in more than 14 years. With so much of Americans' wealth tied up in the home … [Read more...] about US housing market heats up ahead of election but not all feel the glow
