VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Tri Hieu, a financial expert talks to Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper on the importance for the country to create a level playing field to people from all social strata. Nguyen Tri Hieu. — Photo vov.vn Don’t you think the increase in the percentage of people getting rich from real estate, stock exchange and virtual currency has raised an alarm for Vietnam? In developed countries, the middle income class accounts for between 50-70 per cent of the country’s population. It is indisputable these people are the driving force for their national economic development. For Vietnam, we should be happy to have more and more people getting rich quickly. But, Vietnamese people, who are in the middle income class, are not evenly divided. The number of people who earn US$3,000 per month is much smaller than those with an income of US$1,500 – 2,000 per month. This is an issue for us to consider how to have more evenly distribution … [Read more...] about Narrow the gap between the rich and the poor
The newly released World Ultra Wealth Report 2017 does not have current figures on the number of Vietnamese super-rich, but the 2014 and 2015 reports both showed there were over 200. In 2014, Vietnam had 210 super rich people with total assets of US$20 billion. In 2015, the number rose to 220, while total assets remained unchanged at US$20 billion. Of the 200 with assets of US$30 million and higher, or VND600 billion, 42 have assets public on the stock market, according to BizLIVE’s Top Rich website. The others are ‘hidden’ super rich, or those who hold assets at companies which don’t list shares on the stock market. The Wealth Report 2017 released by Knight Frank in early March showed that Vietnam is among the countries with the number of super-rich increasing rapidly. The report said in 2016 Vietnam … [Read more...] about How many super-rich are there in Vietnam?
VietNamNet Bridge - In the past, some countries in Asia, Africa or Latin America were rich or had bright cultural development, but were often “robbed" by imperialists or colonialists. Visit the national museums of the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, or Spain, you can easily see a lot of treasures from Egypt, China, South America. But you do not see any treasure sourced from Vietnam. Except for the Dong Son bronze drum of ancient times, it seems that Vietnamese have not made any item that can be considered a “treasure”. The past There are many reasons given to explain the poverty of Vietnam. One of the major reasons is the "wet rice civilization" or the "village culture". They are usually used to explain gaps or weaknesses of Vietnam in the past. To be fair, before the industrial revolution and the presence of Western people with the steam locomotive, not only Vietnam but entire Asia was largely dependent on agriculture. The characteristic of this profession is … [Read more...] about When will Vietnam become a rich country?

Covering an area of 20ha in Hanoi’s outskirts of Son Tay, the New Zealand Rabbit Breed Centre supplies 10,000 rabbits annually of which 6,000 rabbits are breeders. According to the centre’s owner and general director Phung Van Toan, raising New Zealand rabbits is not common in Vietnam despite the fact that New Zealand rabbits are hardier, are more fertile and easier to raise in comparison with Vietnam’s rabbits. “In addition, raising New Zealand rabbits on an industrial scale will help to control waste management”, Toan said.Toan’s centre has three breeding facilities including a facility to raise rabbits for meat, a facility for breeding and a facility for copulation. Most of the facilities are equipped with modern husbandry technology such as ventilation systems, heating systems and auto feeding systems. Waste from rabbits is channeled to an underground biogas digester. With climatic and soil conditions suitable for the growth of mushrooms of various kinds, especially pharmaceutical mushrooms, the growing of red linhzhi mushroom in Dong Hoa commune (Trang Bom District, Dong Thap Province) follows an enclosed production chain of various steps, from breeding to culture and processing. Visiting a red linhzhi (a pharmaceutical mushroom species) farm of Tran Hong Thuy, who boldly invested more than 400 million dong in 2013, we can understand that red linhzhi growing does not take great effort provided the growers strictly comply with the technical process of various steps from gourd cutting, to strain steaming, planting, warming and different tending techniques. Mushroom farms must also be absolutely clean and airy, ensuring a temperature of 22 – 28 oC and humidity of 80-90%.The mushroom growing houses must be equipped with automatic watering systems, cement floors to maintain humidity for mushroom development and surrounding nets to prevent … [Read more...] about Getting Rich from Red Linhzhi
Editor’s note: D.T., 25, hopes Vietnam’s tourism appeal will be boosted by a wide array of alluring handicraft keepsakes in 2035 in his submission to the “Ky Vong Viet Nam 20 Nam Toi” (“My Expectations for Vietnam in 20 Years”) writing contest. >> An audio version of the story is available here Souvenirs targeting tourists in Vietnam are currently limited to common items such as “ao dai” (traditional long gowns), “non la” (conical leaf hats), porcelain, silk, rattan items and embroidery paintings. However, these items lack diversity, while more products available on the market come from places other than Vietnam. This has left tourists, particularly foreigners, with limited choices. I aspire that in the next 20 years, Vietnamese keepsakes would be diverse in form, high in quality and rich in different regions’ cultural and historical values. Items from provinces and cities across the country would no longer … [Read more...] about Vietnamese souvenirs will be rich in regional characteristics in 2035

Drinking with pretty escorts on boats or in secluded sections in fancy restaurants has become a new trend among the nouveau riche in the Mekong Delta. Part 1: Delta nouveau riche splurge on drinking, women Part 2: Nude bath with 'ecological' girls on island beach With the increasing economic integration, smart farmers in this area have learnt to start businesses to export aquatic produce. Others may own large ponds where they farm shrimp or tra catfish. The escorts themselves, mostly young, good-looking women, are not prostitutes but, in this conservative country where casual relationships and flings are frowned upon, neither are they considered "virtuous." They inhabit a world somewhere in between the two and apparently go this to get some easy money. They are often workers at local factories, some single and others married but whose husbands do not know about their "jobs." For spending a night drinking and singing with rich men, one could get around a million dong, or 50 … [Read more...] about Delta nouveau riche splurge on drinking, women
