But the prosecutor, Bossier Parish District Attorney J. Schuyler Marvin, also said the judge could have sentenced the truck driver to 90 days in jail rather than the 10-day sentence he received. The driver, Shane DeMoss, had a lengthy record of prior criminal and traffic offenses. District Judge Michael Nerren, who handed down the sentence, had access to the driver's lengthy criminal history.
