Fruit, vegetable sector targets export revenue of $10 billion The agricultural sector has determined to improve quality to meet import market standards and achieve the export target of 10 billion USD by 2030. Of which, the proportion of export turnover of processed fruit and vegetable products will reach 30 per cent or more; fruit and vegetable processing capacity will reach two million tonnes per year, nearly double that of last year. To achieve these goals, the agricultural sector will boost investment in improving the capacity of fruit and vegetable processing in the future; develop establishments for preliminary processing and preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as promoting key fruit and vegetable products and high value-added products. With respect to the April 8 letter, "To pay down debt, make corporations pay something more than nothing," it is important to remind everyone businesses do not pay taxes — not a penny. Businesses have no money of their own. All their revenues come from selling goods and services to consumers — you and me. Those revenues, in turn, are used to buy raw materials, goods and services from other employers; to pay their employees; to distribute to investors (individuals, pension plans and insurance companies); and to pay taxes and to support departments that manage taxation. To have enough money to pay taxes, businesses increase prices to consumers or reduce compensation to employees. Unlike governments, businesses' books must balance periodically. Who suffers most when businesses increase prices to cover taxes? Logically, the poor suffer the most, because the price increases are a greater proportion of their limited incomes. Singapore channels over 18 billion USD to boost innovation efforts

(Photo: straitstimes.com) Singapore (VNA) - Singapore will spend around 24 billion SGD (over 18 billion USD) over the next three years to help firms and workers adapt to the changing global landscape partly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as part of its 80.8 billion USD budget plan for 2021 announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat on February 16. The funds will go towards building a more vibrant business sector and innovation ecosystem, helping enterprises to transform and scale up their operations, and creating opportunities for workers, said Heng, who is also Minister of Finance. Fast-Growing Meditation, Sleep App Calm Hires Netflix, TikTok Execs To Oversee Marketing And Content

Calm , the Los Angeles based mental-health focused company and eponymous app, has hired Netflix ’s Monica Austin and TikTok ’s Greg Justice as VPs of, respectively, marketing and content. They will report to co-founders and CEOs Michael Acton Smith and Alex Tew as Calm continues to invest in original and editorial content. Calm, launched in 2012, became the first mental health unicorn (a privately held startup valued at over $1 billion) in early 2019 and has over 100 million downloads to date, averaging 100,000 new users daily. Last summer, HBO Max ordered A World of Calm , a ten-episode series narrated by Kate Winslet, Priyanka Chopra Joas, Mahershala Ali, Idris Elba, Oscar Isaac, Nicole Kidman, Zoë Kravitz, Lucy Liu, Cillian Murphy, and Keanu Reeves.
