Though the number of paintings is not large, I still spent hours contemplating them—they are too beautiful and lively. The paintings in large scale (1.2m to 8m long) captured the panoramic view of Sa Pa’s mountains, flowers, clouds and rice fields. The longest and mosy advanced funicular railway in Vietnam allows you to admire without effort the extraordinary landscapes of this very famous tourist resort of Vietnam’s northwestern region. Launched three months ago, the Muong Hoa funicular connects Sa Pa city to Mount Fansipan in Lao Cai province. Underwritten by the Sun Group, the 2-km funicular starts from MGallery Hotel in Sa Pa and crosses two tunnels and four viaducts to take passengers to the Fansipan Cable Car station. Perfectly secure, it can carry up to 2,000 people per hour and save a quarter of an hour compared to a car which must take a very rough road. (VEN) - The number of tourists visiting the northwestern province of Lao Cai is expected to increase by 1.6-1.7 times to reach 1.8 million this year, of which about 70 percent would come to Sa Pa Town. These forecasts seem to be a reality as tourism development of “the misty town” is witnessing positive changes with a large number of undergoing projects helping to awaken local untapped tourism potential. (VEN) - The northern mountain town of Sa Pa, once a French hilltop station and today a world renowned tourist magnet, appeals to visitors not only due to its picturesque landscapes, rugged treks and cool climate, but also thanks to its unique ethnic minority cultures, especially locally made brocades. Cat Cat Village The Lao Cai Province hub, not far from the border with China, is surrounded by villages inhabited by various tribal groups. During our most recent journey there, we visited Cat Cat, the closest ethnic minority village to Sa Pa. Although Cat Cat is not the biggest brocade-making village in Sa Pa, it is home to one of the best and most unique brocades of the region. One of the most beautiful towns in Viet Nam has celebrated its one-hundred-and-tenth birthday. Early buildings that went up in Sa Pa, in Lao Cai Province, were built by the French who ruled over Viet Nam at the time. Around the town are beautiful rice fields.
