JOHOR BARU: Manufacturing associations have welcomed the International Trade and Industry Ministry’s call for local and foreign companies to help reduce Covid-19 infections in order for businesses to keep open. Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association assistant treasurer Seow King Chong said the association continuously reminded its members to educate workers about SOP compliance and limit their movements to check the spread of the virus. He said it was vital that companies give their full cooperation in the matter as the national economy could not afford to have further setbacks after declining last year due to the pandemic. “Besides the health threat, if there is an outbreak in a factory, the management will incur losses from mass employee testing, staff quarantine and disrupted production. “Since the pandemic hit the country last year, production in my own textile manufacturing company dropped by at least 50%. “The apparel manufacturing sector was just seeing a slight … [Read more...] about Manufacturers taking steps to break infection chain

Ikea reopening plans and rules explained, including when its restaurants will start serving
IKEA has revealed a number of rules that shoppers will have to follow when it reopens stores in England and Wales on April 12. The retailer said it would be putting in place "stringent" measures to ensure that staff and customers can shop safely when stores reopen next week. This includes putting extra hand sanitiser facilities throughout stores, and more cleaning will take place - especially across bathrooms, trolleys, bags, touchscreens and rest areas. However, restaurants in stores will remain closed until May 17 in line with Government guidelines. But Ikea 's Bistros, which offer a contact-free takeaway service, will remain open along with its Swedish Food Markets. It comes as Boris Johnson confirmed non-essential retail will reopen on April 12 as planned under his roadmap out of lockdown. Tiger Woods crash: Woods was driving almost 90 mph when he crashed SUV near LA
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tiger Woods was driving nearly 90 mph — twice the posted speed limit — on a downhill stretch of road when he lost control of an SUV outside Los Angeles and crashed in a wreck that left the golf superstar seriously injured, authorities said Wednesday. Sheriff Alex Villanueva blamed the Feb. 23 crash solely on excessive speed and Woods’ loss of control behind the wheel. The athlete will not face any citations for his third high-profile collision in 11 years. “The primary causal factor for this traffic collision was driving at a speed unsafe for the road conditions and the inability to negotiate the curve of the roadway,” the sheriff told a news conference. Woods was driving 84 to 87 mph (135 to 140 kph) in an area that had a speed limit of 45 mph (72 kph), Villanueva said. The stretch of road is known for wrecks and drivers who frequently hit high speeds. Due to the steepness of the roadway, a runaway truck escape lane is available just beyond where Woods … [Read more...] about Tiger Woods crash: Woods was driving almost 90 mph when he crashed SUV near LA

Hanoi dormitory cafe harks back to bygone subsidy era
The Zum Coffee shop is located on the first floor of an old dormitory in a small alley at 110 C6 Vu Ngoc Phan Street, Dong Da District. To the left of the entrance is a counter walled by old wooden shutters. It also carries subsidy era artifacts like the television set. The cafe owners cleared some walls to create a bigger space for the shop. The yellow painted wall is broken with patchy brick rifts to create a rustic, old world look.
