A statement by the Chief Registrar of the court, Hadizatu Mustapha, disclosed that the Ebonyi State-born jurist died around 2.30am, yesterday. “He felt sick and was admitted in the last one week in the National Hospital, Abuja, but before he was moved to the intensive care unit of the hospital on Friday, March 5 he tested negative to COVID-19 investigative test conducted on him,” the statement added. Remarkably, Justice Ngwuta passed on about 23 days to his retirement from the bench of the apex court. According to the statement, “Hon. Justice Ngwuta was due to retire from the Supreme Court bench on attaining mandatory retirement age of 70 years on March 30, 2021. “His remains have been deposited in the National Hospital mortuary pending the arrangement for his burial”. Delta LG poll: One killed, as PDP clears 25 chairmanship seats
Kindly Share This Story: By Festus Ahon & Ochuko Akuopha THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, weekend, won all the 25 chairmanship seats in the Delta State local government elections, conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC. The poll, which was held on Saturday, was adjudged as peaceful, free and fair by members of the PDP. However, the All Progressives Congress, APC, which pulled out of the exercise at about 12 noon, mid-way into the election, described the poll as a sham. PDP’s victory came amid confusion at Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area as one Mr Muvi Unagha was reportedly shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen. It was learned that the deceased was shot at a popular drinking joint in the community while waiting for the arrival of electoral materials. IBP hails Filipina lawyers on International Women’s Day
MANILA, Philippines — The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) highlighted on Monday the achievements and contributions of Filipina lawyers to the society in celebration of International Women’s Day. “The Integrated Bar of the Philippines highlights the achievements of the Filipina Lawyer in celebration of International Women’s Day. AFP’s Civil-Military Office apologizes for list of UP alumni who ‘joined’ NPA
MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) J7 or Civil-Military Operations Office has apologized for posting on Facebook a list of former University of the Philippines (UP) students who allegedly joined the communist New People’s Army (NPA). According to a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Information Exchange, the Office of the J7 is already conducting an investigation regarding why and how the inaccurate list was published. It also apologized to anyone inadvertently affected by the Facebook post that went viral. “We sincerely apologize for those who were inadvertently affected by inconsistencies regarding the List of Students who joined the NPA (Died or Captured) that was posted in the AFP Information Exchange Facebook account.
