It is the epoch of belief that Indian economy will hit the $5 trillion GDP mark and how it will get there is the epoch of incredulity. It is also the season of hope that worst is behind us and season of darkness, especially on various fronts like employment. And so on. In a day of serious consolidation on Friday, the market spent the session in a limited and defined range before ending on a flat note. Nifty saw a lower opening, but soon crawled into the positive zone. The market extended its gains in the morning, but gave up those gains by late morning trade. Nifty spent the rest of the session heading nowhere and kept trading around its previous closing levels. After a trendless session, the index ended flat with a negligible loss of 3.15 points, or 0.03 per cent. Nifty has continued to stay within the broadening formation, and it has been hovering around the upper trend line. The upper trend line of the pattern is rising in nature, and therefore, it is preventing any sustainable breakout from the current levels. Lack of internal strength continues to remain a concern. For any convincing directional up move to occur, Nifty’s behavior against the 12,400 level will be an important indicator to watch in the coming days. NEW DELHI: The domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 158.34 points up at 42,103.71 on account of buying in frontline bluechip counters. Shares of TAAL Enterprises (up 19.98 per cent), Beekay Steel Industries (up 18.47 per cent), Lotus Eye Hospitals (up 18.25 per cent), NHPC (up 14.46 per cent), Lypsa Gems (up 12.91 per cent), Camex Ltd (up 11.82 per cent), National Plast (up 11.15 per cent), Morarjee Textiles (up 10.63 per cent), D & H India (up 10.47 per cent), Polylink (up 10.07 per cent) and Vodafone Idea (up 8.02 per cent) were among the best performers. The Nifty 50 index was trading 37.95 points up at 12,390.30. NEW DELHI: The BSE Oil & Gas index was trading lower in Tuesday's morning session. Shares of Castrol India (down 1.84 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 1.19 per cent), Petronet LNG (down 1.08 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (down 0.03 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 0.03 per cent) were the top losers in the index. The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.01 per cent up at 14,558.44 around 10:51 am. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 43.70 points at 12,180.85, while the BSE Sensex was down 153.68 points at 41,375.23. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.
