advertisement advertisement advertisement I love my home office chair—deeply. It feels like sitting in a hug. advertisement advertisement Before 2020, I would only see it a few hours a day. The rest of the time, I’d work in coworking spaces and coffee shops, which I walk to. It kept me active. The pandemic changed that—my chair became part of my body. I coded there, I had meetings there, I ate my meals there, I happy hour’d with friends there, and I watched Netflix there. I rocked my whiny kids there. I did everything in that chair, and my body started to feel it. We all know that exercise plays an important role in our mental and physical well-being. As a car-less city-dweller, losing the ability to walk around and leave my tiny apartment when the world started to shut down weighed heavily on my mental and physical health. And, as a mom who now had more than one full-time job, I just didn’t have time to dedicate to … [Read more...] about This is why my treadmill desk makes me happier and more productive

Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy: Inside Dartmouth’s Hazing Abuses
Long before Andrew Lohse became a pariah at Dartmouth College , he was just another scarily accomplished teenager with lofty ambitions. Five feet 10 with large blue eyes and the kind of sweet-faced demeanor that always earned him a pass, he grew up in the not-quite-rural, not-quite-suburban, decidedly middle-class town of Branchburg, New Jersey, and attended a public school where he made mostly A’s, scored 2190 on his SATs and compiled an exhaustive list of extracurricular activities that included varsity lacrosse, model U.N. She added that teachers were told to "disrupt and dismantle this systemic racism. And I can tell you, one thing that's for sure, it has been disruptive because there are parents who disagree with this ideology, there are teachers who disagree with it, there are students who disagree with it … [Read more...] about Virginia teacher says critical race theory has damaged community as frustrated parents demand changes

After violent national tragedies — such as Pearl Harbor, the Kennedy assassination, and 9/11 — blue ribbon, bipartisan commissions are named to assemble facts, assign culpability and offer preventive protections against subsequent acts of violence. It has been more than 100 days since a mob assaulted the Capitol in a violent attempt to prevent congressional certification of a presidential election. Proposals for a commission — offered right after the carnage, by Republicans and Democrats alike — have bogged down in partisan sniping. Therefore, Congress should promptly pass legislation authorizing the president to appoint a commission, equally divided between Republicans and Democrats and subject to a veto of either House. ADVERTISEMENT “A commission is really necessary and logical,” says Tom Kean, the former congressman and Republican governor of New Jersey who headed the 9/11 Commission. “Congress seems incapable of doing anything bi-partisan. There are important questions … [Read more...] about Appointing a credible, non-partisan Jan. 6 commission should not be difficult
