Manufacturers taking steps to break infection chain

JOHOR BARU: Manufacturing associations have welcomed the International Trade and Industry Ministry’s call for local and foreign companies to help reduce Covid-19 infections in order for businesses to keep open. Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association assistant treasurer Seow King Chong said the association continuously reminded its members to educate workers about SOP compliance and limit their movements to check the spread of the virus. Unique ceramic streets in Lien Mac village Residents of Lien Mac village in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem district have been busy collecting discarded materials such as ceramics, bottles, and dishes to decorate the village’s streets. Volunteers who help even when it hurts during a pandemic

SINGAPORE - In March last year, financial adviser Siti Nur Indra Jalil tested positive for Covid-19 and was warded at Mount Alvernia Hospital for 49 days. For the first 10 days in hospital, she had a fever of between 39 and 40 deg C, was immobile from sore muscles and joint pains, was breathless and could not taste or smell anything. Yet, she continued mentoring youth from her hospital bed as she encouraged them online to study hard and pursue a higher education. She was one of three people The Straits Times spoke to who had been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic - and still helped others. The National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) said its online donation platform, Giving.sg, received $102 million in donations for the financial year from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
