Chris Cuomo’s ‘Black on the Inside’ Comment Caps Horrible Week for His Family

· March 7, 2021 ·

Chris Cuomo, CNN News anchor and brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo , was criticized on Twitter this weekend after he joked that he's "black on the inside" while talking to journalist and CNN colleague Don Lemon. The comment came after he was singing the theme song to Good Times , a television show popular in the 1970s about a black family living in Chicago. Laughing, Lemon asked Chris Cuomo how he knew the words to the song, to which Christ Cuomo responded, "You know, I'm black on the inside." The comment sparked backlash on Twitter after USA Today sports reporter Mike Freeman pointed to the statement alongside a perplexed image of Tom from the cartoon Tom and Jerry on Friday. "It's fucking offensive," tweeted Sister2Sister Magazine Managing Editor Aisha K. Staggers on Saturday, responding to another commenter to Freeman's post. "Black isn't something you can just say you feel you are inside without having to deal with the racism that comes with being … [Read more...] about Chris Cuomo’s ‘Black on the Inside’ Comment Caps Horrible Week for His Family

iPhone 12 review: The new standard of iPhone

· October 29, 2020 ·

Source: iMore This is a really big year for iPhone. After stagnating with the same design for three years, based on a design from six years ago, Apple flipped all the tables and brought out a completely new iPhone design ... based on a design from seven years ago. Here's the thing, a lot of use loved that design from seven years ago — the flat edges, flat back, flat everything. Sure, it's good to try something new, but returning to a beloved design is the best thing Apple could have done for the iPhone. The best thing except for turning the mid-range version into the iPhone with nearly all of the advanced features of the more expensive Pro model for $200 less ($300 less if you are holding out for the iPhone 12 mini). We're talking about the same OLED Super Retina XDR display with HDR support, same IP68 water resistance rating of up to 6 meters for 30 minutes, the same A14 chip, the same TrueDepth front-facing camera, nearly the same camera system, and all of the same … [Read more...] about iPhone 12 review: The new standard of iPhone

Year in review 2018: Apple’s year of predictable updates and high prices

· December 12, 2018 ·

If 2017 was a year in which Apple let some products stagnate while over-aggressively trying to update others , 2018 was the exact opposite. Long-neglected favorites like the MacBook Air and Mac mini were finally refreshed, and iOS 12 focused on addressing longstanding complaints. For the most part, Apple didn’t wow us in 2018 with breakthrough designs or never-seen-it-before features. Just as iPhones have “S” years (iPhone 4s, 5s, 6s, etc.) where the design stays the same but everything is just better , this was an “S” year for Apple as a company. With the exception of the Apple Watch Series 4, most of this year’s product and service releases were safe and predictable. Apple didn’t launch major new services. It didn’t drastically change the designs and features of products we’re used to. But it did deliver a lot of products and software updates that we’ve all wanted for a long time. 2018 was a year of Apple dialing back the ambition that has caused many longtime users to … [Read more...] about Year in review 2018: Apple’s year of predictable updates and high prices

The new Apple Pencil made me a believer

· December 13, 2018 ·

I probably used the original Apple Pencil for no more than an hour, total, during its entire existence. I don’t draw. I avoid writing by hand whenever possible. My penmanship is awful. The moment my teachers began accepting printed essays, I stopped writing them in longhand. I have never had a good relationship with pens and pencils; why should the Apple Pencil be any different? And yet... something funny happened upon the release of the new 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with the second-generation Apple Pencil. I gave the new Pencil a try. And I’ve used it more in the past five weeks than in the three years that I kept the original Apple Pencil... well, it’s around here somewhere, if I can find it, but it’s probably not charged, anyway. For all the reasons you’d expect... By all accounts, the new Pencil is an update that addresses all of the major shortcomings of the previous model. And to be sure, many of the improvements this time around have helped me stick with it. … [Read more...] about The new Apple Pencil made me a believer
