The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected 10 outstanding events in the area of culture, sports and tourism during 2012. In the top position was the UNESCO recognition of the unique practice of worshipping Hung Kings in the northern midland province of Phu Tho as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humankind on December 6. This is the first ritual heritage in the world that has been recognised by UNESCO. The other nine events are as follows: 2. HA NOI (VNS) — The Thao Van Hoa va Dan Ong (Sports, Culture and Men) magazine has just announced its men and women of the year in the fields of culture, art, entertainment and business. Men of the Year 2015 include People's Artist Tran Hieu, businessman Dinh Nhat Nam, designer Lam Gia Khang and Muay Thai boxer Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat while the only Pretty Woman of the Year 2015 was actress Diem My 9x. Logistic troops enjoy sports-culture festival
PANO - More than 200 athletes and artists from affiliate units of the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army participated in the 11th sports-culture festival held at Transportation Brigade 972 in celebration of the general department’s 66th traditional anniversary (July 11th). The athletes competed in events of 100m run, 1,000m relay, long jump, badminton, and tug-of-war. Meanwhile, units’ artists brought the festival selective arts programs with topics in praise of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the army’s glorious traditions, the general department’s tradition and the beautiful image of today’s logistic troops. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved a circular on granting work permits to performing artists. The circular will be effective from April 1 this year. Nguyen Dang Chuong, head of the ministry's Performing Department, speaks to The Thao & Van Hoa Cuoi Tuan (Sports&Culture Weekend) about the issue. What were the preparations made while drafting the circular on granting work permits to performing artists, effective from April 1? We drafted the circular at the beginning of last year. Then we organised various workshops to consult experts and artists working in the field. After the culture ministry approved the circular, we issued some guidelines for implementing it. On April 1, we will start granting work permits to singers and models. Xoan Singing of Phu Tho Province: Intangible Cultural Heritage According to historical records, Xoan singing has existed for over 2,000 years and is an extremely valuable folk cultural heritage. Over its long history, this art form has been promoted by many people with status and prestige in society, and supported and facilitated by many writers and poets. Xoan singing or hat cua dinh (singing at the communal house) is a kind of performing art relating to worshipping gods; it is believed to be a legend from the time of Hung Kings. Long time ago, the Van Lang's people held many Xoan singing events in the spring to welcome the new year. North-western ethnic culture sport festival to be held
The 10th North-western ethnic culture sport festival will take place from October 23 to 26 in Yen Bai with the participation of six provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai and Yen Bai. During a press conference in Hanoi yesterday, Deputy Chairwoman of Yen Bai provincial Peoples Committee Hoang Thi Hanh who is also head of the organising board said the festival would see various culture and sport activities. The Danang People's Committee has just approved and directed the preparations for the Danang Maritime Tourist Cultural Festival 2004 on 31 July and 01 August. The festival is a significant and impressive event that will publicise the city's culture and tourism. The festivities will include the Fish Worshipping (Cau Ngu) festival at Xuan Ha fishing village, performances of folk legends about some famous landscapes of Danang preserved in Quang people's cultural treasury, art exhibitions, fairs, a conference on investment in tourism, sporting, cultural and tourist activities organised on the two pavement areas of Bach Dang Street and on the Han River. An ethnic Khmer cultural, sports and tourism festival will open in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang tomorrow, organisers have announced. Diverse cultural activities to welcome Tet
Diverse cultural, tourism and sports events are taking place across the country to welcome the upcoming lunar New Year Festival (Tet) - the Year of the Buffalo. The main streets in Nha Trang city of central coastal Khanh Hoa province are bedecked with flowers, colorful lanterns, slogans and flags to welcome Tet.
