Talk Around Town Students suffer from teaching equipment shortages by Trung Hieu Second grade student Le Duc Anh, also known as Ngong (Goose), can’t help but complain about his homework. "My teacher asked our class to describe a cock, but I’ve never seen one alive," says the upset seven-year-old. "I had to write about a slaughtered cock laying on my family’s altar on New Year’s Day. My teacher still gave me a bad mark." With few illustrations to accompany her lessons, Mai Huong, a fifth grade teacher in Ha Noi, has a similar problem.
