PANO - 2013 Lam Kinh Festival will be held in Thanh Hoa province from September 25- 26th, as part of activities to mark the 595th anniversary of the Lam Son Uprising and the 580th death anniversary of King Le Loi, the first king of the Le dynasty. The event includes incense offering ceremonies at Le Thai To Temple in Xuan Lam commune; the Le Thai To Tomb and the Lam Kinh Temples in Tho Xuan district; the Le Lai Temple in Kien Tho commune, Ngoc Lac district; and the Le Loi monument in Thanh Hoa city. Besides, various cultural and art performances, camping, sports activities as well as exhibitions to introduce Le Dynasty's architectures will be also organised during the festival. Lam Kinh Festival, which marks the 590th anniversary of Lam Son Insurrection and the 580th anniversary of King Le Thai To's enthronement, was launched in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on September 21. The ceremony was attended by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Education, To Huy Rua. The annual festival commemorates national hero Le Loi, who defeated Chinese Ming invaders and brought independence to his people, becoming the first king of the Le dynasty with the title Le Thai To 580 years ago. It also aims to honor outstanding individuals, organizations and naval soldiers who guard sea borders to defend Vietnam's islands. It showcases more than 300 photos, documentaries and artifacts which provide a valuable insight into Vietnam's efforts to defend its territorial waters and develop the sea-borne economy. Many of them also present information about economic development and the people of Thanh Hoa. The new library will be built on an area of 8,500 square meters with high-end facilities, improved preservation and protection functions as well as updated books and documents on culture, science and technology. The new library will offer 650,000 books with 10,500 regular readers. After completion, the library will include four blocks designed in modern architecture, seven floors and a four-storey building. The first floor will be served as a host venue for cultural and arts events, festivals and exhibitions. Other floors will be saved for electronic reading service, borrowing books, foreign language book reading space, scientific conference hall, areas for reproducing and storing books and newspapers and a stockroom. The library will also have reading rooms for vision-impaired and disabled people. Ho Dynasty’s history on display in Thanh Hoa
Opening a series of activities to welcome the world cultural heritage recognition for the Ho Dynasty, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum has put about 500 items relating to the Ho Dynasty Citadel, Ho Quy Ly and the Ho Dynasty on display. On display are photographs, books, literature, newspapers, magazines, scientific analysis and research by both domestic and foreign academics. The documents include four main themes of the Ho Dynasty Citadel, Ho Quy Ly, the Ho Dynasty and the Ho Dynasty Citadel's recognition by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage last year. Among the collection are documents written in French before 1954. Among the exhibits are photos of the citadel from the air as well as the camp where the stone masons lived during its construction, plus the book La Province De Thanh Hoa by French scholar Le Proton.
