A festival, “Traditional Trade Villages’ Day”, will take place in Phu Xuyen District, Hanoi, from October 26th to 29th, aiming at recognising, honouring, promoting and popularising Vietnam’s traditional trade villages. As planned, around 400 people, including artists, artisans and local people from trade villages will join the festival to honour founders of trade villages on October 26th. Besides, typical products, such as lacquer, leather shoes, bamboo-rattan, and so on from trade villages in Phu Xuyen District will be showcased on an area of 500sq.m. Villages will also compete in competitions to make traditional products. At the festival, local people will also have an opportunity to enjoy folk songs and dances, performed by artists from Chanh Thon Ca Tru (ceremonial song). During the festival, a seminar to discuss the current situation and measures for tourism development in trade villages and trade streets of Ha Noi will also be held with the participation of scientists, policy-makers, tourist companies, and international organizations such as Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV). A week-long tourism event is set to begin at Hanoi's Thang Long Royal Citadel today to celebrate the capital's traditional trades. It will also serve as a preview for the city's upcoming 1,000th anniversary. The open-air event at 12 Nguyen Tri Phuong Street will showcase traditional activities and the old-time cultural atmosphere of the ancient capital. An exhibition of Hanoi's traditional trades and talented craftsmen will feature handicraft products like pottery from Bat Trangvillage, paper lanterns and silk from the northern province of Ha Tay. Visitors will also have a chance to learn about solemn Vietnamese rituals of worship while studying old-style bamboo houses from northern Vietnam and Hoi An's Old Square. In the framework of the 4th Conference of ANMA,Vietnam National Museum of History (VNMH) has organized for delegations attending ANMA 4 visit some historical sites and traditional trade villages of Vietnam in Hanoi . The deligations were divided into 2 groups according to two programs.
