Paire spits on court, tanks and exits Argentina Open

· March 5, 2021 ·

IMAGE: France's Benoit Paire hits a backhand during his match against Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo at the ATP Buenos Aires Argentina Open 2021, at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, on Thursday. Photograph: Marcelo Endelli/Getty Images Frenchman Benoit Paire crashed out of the Argentina Open after tanking his final service game and being docked a point for spitting on the court in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 defeat to Francisco Cerundolo. World number 29 Paire, seeded third in the tournament, lost his temper over a line call when 2-0 down in the second set after a Cerundolo serve down the middle was judged an ace. The bearded 31-year-old argued heatedly with the chair umpire on court over a mark in the clay next to the line but failed to convince the official to overturn the call. Paire then spat on the mark and shouted obscenities, earning a warning for a first code of conduct violation. Later in the set, he was docked a point for a second code of conduct violation after … [Read more...] about Paire spits on court, tanks and exits Argentina Open

AEW Revolution 2021: Botched ending, results, full recap and analysis

· March 8, 2021 ·

Sunday was Revolution , AEW's first pay-per-view in 2021. It was a stacked show that delivered some fantastic matches, particularly the opening tag title bout and the six-man ladder match. Yet despite these successes, the show is likely to be remembered for its lacklustre post-main event angle, which was meant to barrage Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston in deadly explosions but instead went off like lousy pyro. In the match before that, Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley to retain his AEW Championship. Sting returned to action, kind of, and won a tag match with Darby Allin over Brian Cage and Ricky Starks. And the major star teased by Tony Khan? It was none other than Christian, hot off his return at WWE's Royal Rumble . Kenny Omega retains his AEW Championship After a catastrophic, borderline preposterous exploding barbed wire deathmatch, Kenny Omega pinned Jon Moxley to retain the AEW Championship. He did so with the help of The Good Brothers, as well as an exploding … [Read more...] about AEW Revolution 2021: Botched ending, results, full recap and analysis

Turning Pages: Inside Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

· March 8, 2021 ·

Dolly Parton is many things to so many people: singer-songwriter, actress, humorist, icon. But to nearly 2 million kids around the world, she’s their librarian. Since 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program has delivered meticulously chosen, personalized, age-appropriate books every month to children up to five years old — all free of charge. Parton’s charitable endeavor, first launched in her native Sevier County, in the foothills of Tennessee ’s Great Smoky Mountains, was inspired by her hardworking, wise, yet functionally illiterate father. The program is the cornerstone of Parton’s Dollywood Foundation, which she started in 1988, initially with the aim of encouraging students to stay in school and offering scholarships and financial incentives for them upon graduation. The foundation’s efforts helped the county’s dropout rates to plummet from nearly 40 percent to six percent, and mobilized the community to work toward sustaining that improvement. Dancing On Ice fans left seething over Sonny Jay’s ‘unfair’ prop

· March 7, 2021 ·

Dancing On Ice fans were left seething with rage over Sonny Jay's "unfair" table prop this evening. For their first skate tonight, each of the semi-finalists were tasked with performing with various props - from chairs to golf clubs. But DJ Sonny was given a large table on the ice to skate with, which left some viewers convinced that Sonny had been given an impossible task. Despite skating incredibly well, Sonny received lower scores than the perfect 10s fans believed he deserved because he hadn't utilised the table enough in his skate. Frustrated fans flocked to Twitter to comment, with one writing: "“He didn’t use the prop very much”... it was a full a** table what did you want him to do with it #dancingonice." Another fumed: "I think giving them a table is very unfair! I remember when the props just meant hats." A third raged: "A bloody table, what next all the household furniture." "A table?! How the hell you dance with a table," another seethed. One insisted: … [Read more...] about Dancing On Ice fans left seething over Sonny Jay’s ‘unfair’ prop
