Pregnant mum turns her dressing gown into a chic evening dress for her mate’s 30th

· February 22, 2021 ·

A PREGNANT woman who couldn't find a comfortable outfit to wear to a friend's 30th stunned friends and family by stepping out in a dressing gown. Bree, 26, from Adelaide, Australia, picked up the chic midnight blue kimono for just £11.25 (AU$20/US $15.79) at the Australian chain Kmart , dubbing it her "new evening wear". She draped the gown over her body and styled it with statement earrings, heels and a belt, which sat nicely above her burgeoning bump. To complete the dressy look, she opted for a sleek high ponytail, which sat on her right shoulder for the photos, which she later shared on Facebook. Pretty impressed with how her outfit came together, Bree - who is already mum to one - shared snaps in a popular Australian Facebook group and said: “Kmart sleepwear is my new ‘evening wear’. You’re welcome.” Since sharing her unique sleepwear transformation on Monday, her post has been ‘liked’ more than 2,300 times with hundreds of comments from fellow Kmart shoppers … [Read more...] about Pregnant mum turns her dressing gown into a chic evening dress for her mate’s 30th

A futuristic new PUBG game has been announced

· February 25, 2021 ·

Well, we knew a new PUBG title for console and PC would be launching soon, but back in January we also heard something about a new mobile title set in the PUBG universe - and it seems Krafton has decided to unveil the latter first. PUBG: New State appears to be something of a sequel to the original PUBG, taking the battle royale into the future (2051) and introducing a new battleground called "TROI". It will apparently expand PUBG's lore, allowing players to discover "how the universe has evolved". I guess you can tell NASA to pack up the Perseverance rover, then. It sounds like the fundamentals of the original PUBG battle royale will remain the same, while adding several new features, such as a new in-game weapon customisation that allows players to make various weapons with customisation kits. These kits themselves include a variety of improvements such as performance enhancements, fire mode selection and grenade launcher attachments. On top of that you can now expect "combat … [Read more...] about A futuristic new PUBG game has been announced

Showtime’s Halo TV series casts its Cortana

· August 2, 2019 ·

Following April's news that American Gods actor Pablo Schrieber would be stepping into the great clonking boots of Master Chief for the long-in-development Halo TV series, Showtime has announced casting details for MC's blue AI chum Cortana, and a host of other characters. Cortana - "the most advanced AI in human history, and potentially the key to the survival of the human race", according to Showtime's announcement - will be played by Natascha McElhone (Californication, The Truman Show), who, in a dual role, will also star as Dr. Catherine Halsey, "the brilliant, conflicted and inscrutable creator of the Spartan supersoldiers". Elsewhere, Fargo's Bokeem Woodbine will take on the role of Soren-066, "a morally complex privateer at the fringes of human civilization whose fate will bring him into conflict with his former military masters and his old friend, the Master Chief", and Shabana Azmi will feature as Office of Naval Intelligence head, Admiral Margaret Parangosky. … [Read more...] about Showtime’s Halo TV series casts its Cortana

Vernon Reid and the Power of Comic Book Complexity

· July 24, 2017 ·

By Michael A. Friedman “Look in my eyes, what do you see? The cult of personality . I know your anger , I know your dreams . I’ve been everything you want to be. I’m the cult of personality.” — from “ Cult of Personality ” by Living Colour There is something enticing about viewing the world in simplistic all-or-none terms of “good” and “evil.” We love seeing ourselves as righteous and perfect, while viewing those with whom we have conflict as villainous and devoid of moral value. Why get involved in the stickiness of the complexity of human interaction? And often we choose our entertainment based on our desire for this fantasy world. Good guys versus bad guys, cops versus robbers, superheroes versus villains — these are the dichotomies that pervade our cultural landscape. Source: Photo by Travis Shinn Who doesn’t love seeing a bad guy get their due in a television show or movie? And the more intense the retribution, the better – because if … [Read more...] about Vernon Reid and the Power of Comic Book Complexity

Sex Tapes, Hush Money, and Hollywood’s Economy of Secrets

· January 2, 2021 ·

When Georgia reported its first coronavirus case, Amber and Vinson had about three months of expenses saved. The couple met in high school in 2006, in a Yahoo chat room about hip hop. (Amber and Vinson have asked us to use their first names only.) She gave up a college scholarship and moved to Atlanta to be with him; he dropped out of college when she became pregnant. For more than a decade, he made sandwiches at Subway while she gave birth to two more kids and drifted through call center jobs. They were in love, but like most millennials they had little financial stability. Then, in 2018, Amber landed a job at Public Storage. The gig involved overseeing auctions for the stuff left behind in unpaid storage units. Speculators could, if lucky, quadruple their money by flipping the contents. It got her thinking. As an employee, she wasn’t allowed to participate in the auctions, but since she and Vinson weren’t married, he was free to bid. The trick, the couple soon discovered, … [Read more...] about Sex Tapes, Hush Money, and Hollywood’s Economy of Secrets
