Viet Nam News ĐIỆN BIÊN - So far this month, northern mountainous province authorities have detained 56 people allegedly involved in the destruction of 18.6ha of forest in total, Vietnam News Agency reports. These serial offences took place in Điện Biên Province's Mường Nhé District, an area populated by ethnic minority groups and that is rife with deforestation activities, mostly of the slash-and-burn type. Out of the 56 detained, police forces and relevant authorities have commenced criminal proceedings against 16 people involved in 15 cases of deforestation. On March 11 alone, investigations were launched into 4 deforestation cases. According to existing law, one found to be guilty of destroying over 0.3ha of protection forest will be on trial. During this period, the authorities have either persuaded and enforced 70 nomad residents from 22 households that have immigrated into the area to return to their previous homes. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 - 16:44:28 (VOVworld) - The Vietnam News Agency has refuted untruthful reports by the Chinese press on the East Sea issues which were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on July 14on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. Cuban film crew visit Vietnam News Agency
Deputy Director General of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Le Duy Truyen on June 6 welcomed a visiting film crew from the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (CICAI) led by famous director Isabel Santos Tellez. The Deputy Director General highly valued the VietnamâCuba traditional cooperation, friendship and solidarity since the two countries established diplomatic ties over 40 years ago. He also thanked the Cuban people for their precious assistance and sentiments to Vietnam during the war and its national construction and defence. The VNA leader briefed the guests on the VNAâs development stages which are contributed to by a contingent of over 2,300 officials and reporters working in 63 domestic bureaus in cities and provinces nationwide and 30 overseas bureaus. Vietnam News Agency launches photo contest
A photo contest will be held for Vietnamese and foreigners during the first Vietnam International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Binh Thuan Central province from August 29 to September 3.Each contestant can send as many photos as they like to the organising board before September 10. The prizes will be 20 million VND (1000 USD) for the first, 10 million (500 USD) for second, 7 million VND (350 USD) for third and 3 million VND (150 USD) for encouragement award. The contest is being organised by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Chien Thang Company.
