Wage growth 2018

The bank employees’ unions have called for a two-day nation-wide strike on January 31 and February 1 after the talks with the Indian Bank’s Association (IBA) on wage revisions bore no fruit. With Union Budget around the corner, the strike could affect banking services on the B-Day scheduled to be announced on February 1 by the Ministry of Finance. If the strike materialises, it would be the second one in the same month after Bharat Bandh.A total of nine unions are represented by The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) which has demanded a wage hike of around 20% and to include special allowances in the basic pay.
