Top Vietnamese gymnast Lê Thanh Tùng won gold at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup, held in Koper, Slovania from May 31 to June 3. Vietnamese first rank gymnast Lê Thanh Tùng won gold at 2018 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup — Photo 24h.com.vn With a successful performance in the vault category in the final, Tùng defeated many other strong competitors. “In the qualifying round, Tùng only stood third, but coming into final round, he performed better so he beat other strong competitors to win the championship,” said coach Trương Minh Sang. Vietnam pockets golds at gymnastics, taekwondo championships
Hanoi (VNA) - Gymnast Le Thanh Tung snatched a gold medal with a perfect landing in the mend’s vault finals with a score of 14,733 at the 10th edition of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Doha, Qatar on March 25. This is Tung’s first gold in a world event. The 22-year-old gymnast from Ho Chi Minh City is a gold medal hopeful for upcoming regional competitions, including SEA Games 2017 and Asiad 2018. He bagged two golds for Vietnam at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore. Four gymnasts from Vietnam- Le Thanh Tung, Pham Phuoc Hung, Dinh Phuong Thanh and Dang Nam- participated in the gymnastic event, the first major competition of the sport this year. Viet Nam News Coach of Việt Nam's national female gymnastics team, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thúy, was born in the northern port city of Hải Phòng in 1970. She developed a strong attachment to gymnastics at the age of seven. In 1987, she retired from competition to learn gymnastics coaching in Russia. In 1993, she began to train female gymnasts in Hải Phòng and then later became coach of the national team. For more than 23 years, Thúy has trained many outstanding gymnasts who have gone on to success at regional and world tournaments. Thanh Nga talks to her about her life and career.
